Dear Friends of Recovery,

Spiritual Program Retreat (SPR) is embarking on a project that will bring powerful changes to many lives. We began hosting retreats in 1981 with the guidance of Clarence Snyder, one of the original members of Alcoholics Anonymous. Since then, we have hosted 72 week-end Twelve Step Retreats. To this we have added aftercare (2nd Saturday), workshops, Family Program Retreat and a weekly Co-Dependents Anonymous Meeting.

We have developed a very successful program; in fact we are so successful, our retreats are filling up faster than ever and unfortunately, we have had to turn people away. We could not just allow these people to be ignored.

Our research and experience has made it clear that what we are doing is ushering many people into a new life beyond their imagination. Yet,there is more that we can do. We will be adding two components to our present weekend retreat and follow-up. Those components will be an extended four-week immersion and a short-stay retreat offering. The four-week retreat will be based on the tried and true Minnesota Model. The short-stay, or private retreats, provide a getaway for growth and reflection and will be offered on an ongoing basis. All of our retreats are based on the Twelve Step program outlined in Alcoholics Anonymous; this is still the most effective means of arresting addictions.

In 2016 we received 501(c) (3) non-profit status. January 2018 we purchased a substantial 5000 sq. ft. anchor facility with space for meetings, kitchen, dining, and offices. Now, we are raising funds to expand this facility by 12,000 sq. ft. to include lodging, a commercial kitchen, and “home-like” spaces. We call this place Forest Hills Retreat Center.

We are less than 30 minutes from Amery, Clear Lake, Turtle Lake, Cumberland, New Richmond, Baldwin, and Osceola, WI. We are less than one hour from St. Croix Falls, Eau Claire, Menomonie, Spooner, Rice Lake, Chetek, and Hudson, WI and the eastern Twin Cities metro. We are poised to be a Recovery Community for our region; a place to call home for people in recovery.

A key to our success and our ability to offer low-cost programming, is the full-on involvement of our alumni volunteers. “Practical Experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking(addictions) as intensive work with other alcoholics (addicts).” Alcoholics Anonymous pg 89.

We are reaching out to you to join us in making this Recovery Community a reality for the whole family.

Thank you for your past, present and future support!
